Import recordings or documents into Serene

You can upload existing materials — audio/video recordings of sessions, photos of handwritten notes, or PDFs — and Serene will process them into structured documentation.

There are two separate upload flows depending on what you have.

Upload a Session Recording

Use this when you have an audio or video file of a therapy session (e.g., a Zoom recording, voice memo, or phone recording).

1. Click Upload Session on your Dashboard
2. Select an audio or video file
3. Wait for the upload to complete
4. Serene transcribes, analyzes, and generates a structured note
5. The note appears in Pending Notes for review

Supported formats — MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, MP4, MOV, WebM

This produces the same output as a live recording: transcript, structured note, session analytics, topics, and emotion analysis.

Upload Handwritten Notes or Documents

Use this when you have photos of handwritten notes or a PDF you want to add to a client's record.

1. Click Upload Note on your Dashboard
2. Select your files:
   • Up to 6 images (JPG, PNG, HEIC) — photos of handwritten pages
   • OR 1 PDF document
3. Preview your files and remove any you don't want
4. Click Upload

You can upload multiple images or a single PDF — not both at once. Each image should ideally contain notes from one session.

Things to Know

• Both upload cards are disabled while another upload or recording is in progress
• Files are encrypted during upload and deleted after processing
• For handwritten notes, clear lighting and legible handwriting produce the best results
• Larger files take longer to process
