Recording a session lets Serene listen in real time, transcribe the conversation, and produce a structured clinical note — complete with session analytics, topic extraction, and emotional analysis.

How Recording Works
- Click Session Scribe on your Dashboard
- Grant microphone access when your browser prompts you
- Select the browser tab or screen you want to record (e.g., your Zoom or Teams call)
- Audio from both your microphone and the selected tab is captured together
- While the session runs, audio is uploaded in small chunks — there's no large upload at the end
- When you're done, stop the screen share to end the recording
- Serene transcribes the audio, analyzes the content, and generates a note
- The note appears in Pending Notes for your review
What Gets Generated
After processing, you'll have:
- Transcript — full conversation text
- Structured note — SOAP, BIRP, or unstructured format based on your Note Preferences
- Session summary — a short overview of the session
- Topics — key subjects discussed, with brief summaries
- Session analytics — duration, talking ratio (client vs therapist), and emotion patterns throughout the session
- Client name — auto-detected from the conversation (if enabled in preferences)
Tips for Better Results
- Use a quiet environment with minimal background noise
- Make sure both voices are audible — if only one speaker is captured, analytics will be skewed
- Use headphones to prevent audio feedback between your mic and speakers
- A stable internet connection helps with the real-time chunk upload
Limitations
- You can't start a recording while another recording or upload is in progress
- You can't start a recording while in a telehealth session (use the in-session recording instead)
- Recordings are deleted after processing — only the generated note is retained
